What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Teacher - Nessacus .8 FTE/Wahconah .2 FTE position at Wahconah Regional High School?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA certification in Spanish grades 5-12
- A strong emphasis on teacher/students speaking the target language in class a must
- Evidence of being current in both middle school pedagogical practices and in the latest modern language age-appropriate classroom approaches
- Fostering respect for other world cultures highly desirable, possibly through implementation of extracurricular activities
- Experience teaching the MA Frameworks
- Ability to work positively with Department members to develop and sustain a strong curriculum
- Previous teaching experience at the middle and high school level desired
- Familiarity with educational technology and the ability to integrate technology in the classroom
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for effective planning and assessment of curriculum and instruction
- Establishes and (as necessary) adjusts instructional goals and objectives, to reflect district/school goals, curriculum policies, and the knowledge, skills, progress, and needs of one’s students.
- Designs lessons that provide opportunities for problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in relation to authentic, real world problems.
- Commits to on-going professional development in content area and pedagogy.
- Plans learning tasks to address individual differences among students.
- Develops, administers, and evaluates quality formative and summative assessments.
- Monitors and evaluates students’ progress.
- Encourages, secures and maintains the involvement of parents and other community members in support of teaching and learning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Effectively collaborates with department and grade level teachers.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abides by state statutes, School Committee policies and regulations.
- Attends meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Serves on committees as assigned.

SALARY: $50,594 to $97,434 per year in accordance with the teachers' contract
