Summary
Job Title: Dog Trainer
Department: Training
Reports to: General Manager
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Compensation: $17.50/hr and up to 45% compensation
Job Summary
Responsible for promoting, educating, and executing the PUPS training methodology in the interest of helping our members develop the best possible relationship with their dogs. Prior experience training dogs is required, but we are extremely willing to help you grow in any capacity. PUPS will invest a significant amount of time educating you on our methodology, dog psychology, and effective training techniques.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Communicating effectively with members
- Designing personalized effective training regimens for pet parents and their dogs
- Obedience training, behavior modification and management techniques
- Supporting the team with training knowledge and expertise
- Coordinating schedules with members, prospective members, & PUPS team members
- Executing various training programs and providing material support to members
- Conducting evaluations with prospective members to determine which training regimen would best suit them
- Managing training schedule
- Assisting PUPS team members in the training sales process
- Representing PUPS in a professional, and positive manner

Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) is advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of dog training techniques as well as animal behavior and body language.
- Proven experience working as a dog trainer.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong dog handling skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Patient and enthusiastic.
