POSITION SUMMARY

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to patients within the Wagoner County Detention Center. This position is responsible for performing nursing assessments, administering medications, providing treatments, monitoring patient conditions, responding to medical needs, and assisting with the daily healthcare operations of the facility.


The LPN works under the direction of the facility healthcare provider and follows provider-written protocols, treatment plans, and medical orders. The LPN assesses patient needs, provides nursing care within their scope of practice, monitors changes in patient conditions, and communicates with the healthcare provider for guidance, clarification, or additional verbal orders as needed.


The LPN works collaboratively with the Medical Supervisor, healthcare providers, nursing staff, and detention staff to ensure patients receive appropriate, timely, and professional medical care while maintaining safety, confidentiality, and compliance with healthcare standards within a secure detention facility.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care & Nursing Services

• Perform nursing assessments and evaluate patient health concerns
• Monitor and document patient conditions and changes in health status
• Provide nursing care, treatments, and follow-up care according to provider orders and established protocols
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered
• Obtain vital signs and collect health information
• Assist with medical screenings and intake assessments
• Recognize changes in patient conditions and communicate concerns appropriately
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate nursing care within scope of practice

Medication Management & Treatment Support

• Administer medications according to provider orders and facility procedures
• Monitor medication effectiveness and report concerns to the healthcare provider
• Maintain accurate medication documentation
• Medication pass and medical supply management

Healthcare Operations

• Respond to patient medical requests and healthcare concerns
• Assist with chronic care management and ongoing patient monitoring
• Coordinate with healthcare providers regarding patient needs, treatment plans, and follow-up care
• Assist with outside medical appointments and specialty care coordination
• Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation

Team Collaboration & Compliance

• Work collaboratively with healthcare providers, nursing staff, detention staff, and administrative personnel
• Follow provider-written protocols, treatment plans, facility policies, and healthcare standards
• Maintain patient confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Promote a safe, respectful, and professional healthcare environment


SCHEDULE

Night Shift – Full-Time Position

• 12-hour shifts: 5:30 PM – 5:30 AM
• Schedule: Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, plus every other Wednesday
• Off: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must:

• Possess a current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Oklahoma
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Successfully pass a background investigation and meet facility employment requirements
• Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong ethical standards
• Possess strong communication and nursing assessment skills
• Be able to work independently while functioning as part of a healthcare team
