The Role and Responsibilities
Our Lab Specialist is a medical professional responsible for the daily operations of the laboratory. Demonstrates accuracy in laboratory specimen collection and handling based on collection requirements, volumes, containers, techniques, and patient instructions all while following the study manual and IATA guidelines. The role includes conducting study visits involving sample collection, source documentation, data integrity, patient safety, file management, and occasionally training staff in proper laboratory procedures. Assists in performing EKGs. Manages lab resources including maintaining lab equipment, biowaste, keeping inventory of supplies, and ordering lab kits. Works side-by-side with research staff to meet departmental standards and GCP as set forth by federal regulations. Strong organizational, leadership, and safety skills are essential for this role.
Other Tasks
· Managing study lab kits – ordering and maintaining
- Attending occasional periodic investigator meetings, if applicable
- Facilitating communication between Sponsor, IRB, and clinical staff
- Capturing accurate and detailed study data
- Completing study logs where indicated
- Assisting study monitors with data review and query resolution
- Always ensuring the highest level of protocol compliance
- Obtaining and maintaining GCP and IATA Certifications
- Acquiring additional skills as necessary if requested per study protocol
· Performing additional duties when necessary
Who You Are
Required Qualifications:
- Active Phlebotomy certification
- High School Diploma or higher
- 2 years of full-time Laboratory experience
- Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail, Drive, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience performing labs in a clinical trial setting

Experience:
- Laboratory: 2 years required (preferred in a clinical trial setting)
Work Location: In-person
Physical Requirements: Work is performed in an office and clinical setting and requires regular and physical exertion such as walking, bending, recurrent standing and occasional lifting (under 25lbs). The work requires mild physical characteristics and abilities and dexterity needed to perform intricate medical procedures. The position may also require assisting geriatric and/or disabled patients. The incumbent must have normal color vision and be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
Work Environment: The work involves moderate risks or discomfort associated with working in a clinical environment with regular and recurring exposure to hazards such as bodily fluids including blood, urine, saliva, intraocular fluid, and tears, solutions, electrical appliances. The work performed may involve contact with other risks that require special health and safety precautions such as blood born pathogens or contagions. The incumbent takes special safety precautions and must use protective devices such as gloves, surgical masks, and/or safety shields in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
