Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight of assigned projects, ensuring safety, schedule, quality, and profitability goals are achieved.
  • Review and approve estimates, proposals, budgets, schedules, and contract documents.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Project Managers, Engineers, and field staff.
  • Monitor and manage subcontractor and vendor performance.
  • Oversee project risk management, cost controls, and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, contract requirements, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with leadership and estimating teams on business development and pursuit of new opportunities.
  • Represent Wagner Construction at client meetings, community events, and industry functions.


Related Responsibilities:

  • Support recruitment, retention, and development of high-performing project teams.
  • Ensure timely project reporting, documentation, and financial closeout.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and safe work environment.
  • Identify process improvements to enhance project efficiency and profitability.


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive project management experience in heavy civil, underground utilities, or site development.
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale or high-profile projects ($25M ).
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to mentor and guide teams.
  • Track record of building long-term client relationships and repeat business.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, and project management/estimating software (e.g., HCSS Heavy Bid).
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-production environment.
  • Flexibility to work in diverse locations as project needs change.
  • Willingness to travel as required.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Typical office environment with regular visits to construction sites (outdoors and indoors).
  • Extended periods of desk and computer work.
  • Frequent interaction with clients, subcontractors, and staff.
  • Regular field exposure to varying weather and active construction environments.
  • Some travel required.
