Job: Construction Engineer
Location: York, PA
Pay Range: 60K-70K (Based on experience)
We are currently seeking a Construction Engineer to join our Wagman Heavy Civil team.
Wagman is a fourth generation, family-owned company with offices in Pennsylvania and Virginia and is headquartered in York, PA. Founded in 1902, Wagman is a nationally recognized leader in the industry. We are multi-faceted construction firm with major operations in heavy civil, general construction and geotechnical construction services. Core competencies include design-build, infrastructure, marine construction, modified concrete, grooving and grinding, and geotechnical construction services.
This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.
This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Knowledgeable in the following software: Heavy Job, Heavy Bid, Viewpoint, OnBase, Excel, CAD “computer aided drafting”.
· Maintain a Valid Driver’s License
· Ability to communicate in English both written and verbally
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related degree. With an emphasis on Heavy Structural, Civil Roadway, and Geotechnical Foundations.
Essential Functions:
Scheduling
· Initiate and develop detailed work plans for specific crews with Field Supervision to ensure work is completed safely and timely with a high degree of quality. Implement and monitor the work plans in the field with Field Supervision, Subcontractors, Vendors, Inspectors, and Craft. Submit final work plan to Project Manager for final approval prior to performing the work.
· Responsible for building 3-week schedules for crews and update on a weekly basis.
· Provide the Project Manager with accurate CPM schedule updates to meet project requirements.
· Assist Project Manager co-ordinate the work with Owner’s Design Engineers, Inspection staff, Subcontractors, Vendors, Haulers, and Regulatory Agencies.
Ordering & Coding
· Confirm receipt of materials and services with invoicing from vendors and subcontractors through OnBase invoice coding. Review timecards in Heavy Job for accuracy for all labor and equipment hours and ensure correct cost codes are being utilized.
· Order materials / tools required as related to specific crews.
Technical Support & Engineering
· Assist Project Manager with all administrative requirements within Wagman internal processes.
· Assist the Project Manager review and approve shop drawings, draft RFIs and maintain submittal log. Provide technical support and interpretation to company supervisors and subcontractors through the ability to read and understand complex construction plans to ensure work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.
· Understand and assist with Project Quality Control Plan
· Monitor all work for compliance with the Project Site Specific Safety Plan and the Wagman Environmental- Health and Safety Plan.
· Monitor Field production rates for in place work daily to ensure bid productions are attained.
· Review, analyze and resolve field construction problems, plan discrepancies or plan errors and omissions.
· Provide Project Manager with daily quantities specific to Contract Items to ensure accurate payment from the Owner. Reconcile monthly Pay Estimate with the Project Manager.
· Assist Project Manager initiate and develop a detailed Utility Matrix project wide and continue updates for new and relocated utilities.
· Assist Project Manager organize and maintain contract documents and Shop Drawings through a detailed Document Control policy.
· Assist Project Manager with Final Quantities and Project close out including all required “as-built plans”.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds from ground level to waist level.
- Able to bend, squat and kneel occasionally throughout a scheduled work shift.
- Able to climb ladders, if required.
- Continuous standing and walking required while outside.
- Able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
- Working outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot, and humid weather, may occur during site visits.
- Acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing required.
