Job summary
Position is primarily responsible for supervising daily vehicle maintenance activity for Wadhams Enterprises. Responsibilities include providing direct supervision to all assigned mechanics, assigning work to mechanics based on their training and qualifications, ensuing efficient production on the shop floor, training and developing mechanics, supervising the completion of all maintenance work orders to ensure all labor and parts are properly documented, accounted for and invoiced, review cost of each job before starting on repair, and coordinating all company and customer fleet maintenance activity with the Maintenance Operation Manager. Service Manager will also oversee all grounds and facility maintenance activity. Service Manager will assist the Maintenance Operation Manager with the mechanic hiring process and administration of company personnel policy. Extensive background in Diesel Mechanic's required.
Requirements

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to lift shop equipment weighing up to eighty pounds.
- Ability to climb one flight of stairs.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times.
- Assign jobs according to mechanic's training and qualifications.
- Monitor work in progress to maintain control of workflow and shop production.
- Coordinate any problems and/or delays with Maintenance Operation Manager and operations.
- Coordinate all parts requirements with parts department, ensure parts are ordered and available when needed to prevent work delays.
- Review completed Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) and work orders for accuracy and completion.
- Coordinate work schedules and equipment availability with Maintenance Operation Manager to ensure continual workflow and alternative equipment is available to insert in work schedule if needed.
- Estimate cost of repairs.
- Coordinate with Maintenance Operation Manager to prioritize repairs when necessary if there are scheduling conflicts or customer problems.
- Coordinate and assign all work for "outside" customers.
- Monitor progress to prevent delays and bottlenecks in the shop.
- Ensure work is performed in an efficient, cost effective manner that results in customer satisfaction and profitability for Wadhams Enterprises.
- Coordinate with parts man to be sure parts are on order for proper job completion.
- Work directly with Maintenance Operation Manager and Terminal Manager to monitor financial performance of shop, identify opportunities for improving efficiency, monitor cost control and develop opportunities for increased revenues.
- Plan accordingly to ensure shop work is not impacted by equipment failures.
- Monitor shop for compliance with all OSHA safety regulations. Work directly with shift supervisors and mechanics to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company safety regulations and policy.
- Assist Maintenance Operation Manager with recruiting, hiring, and training mechanics as required. Monitor new mechanics for progress in training and oversee development of each mechanic on staff.
- Evaluate mechanic job performance, provide discipline as required, and enforce all company policy and procedures.
- Establish and maintain acceptable standards of cleanliness for all shop areas.
- Coordinate and schedule all grounds and facility maintenance requirements as required.
- Maintain a professional and positive work atmosphere at all times.
- Prepare and submit required forms and documents according to company policy and procedure.
- Prepare and administer proper documentation as required to support employee disciplinary actions to include employee warning and terminations.
- Report all accidents, injuries, safety incidents and personnel disciplinary actions using proper forms.
- Ensure required paperwork and reports are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
- Schedule new hires for orientations, DOT physicals, and drug/alcohol screening as required.
- Communicate and enforce all company rules, policies and procedures.
- Learn and adhere to all applicable company rules, policies and procedures.
- Interact with all customers both internal and external in a cooperative friendly manner.
- Enthusiastically support all company quality and safety improvement efforts.
- Properly report and handle all HM incidents, releases and spills.
- Retain all contributory workers.
- Train, develop and correct behavior of Shop Supervisors.
- Coordinate with operations to quickly resolve all breakdowns and equipment issues.
- Complete monthly facility inspections.
- Minimize turnaround time to keep equipment productive for operations.
- All office personnel must be reliable, must report for duty on time, and must be available for overtime when required.

- All office personnel must maintain a good working relationship with customers, vendors, co-workers, and management.

Satellite System Management
- Monitor all assigned vehicle Aether System Satellite equipment for proper function and repairs required.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure equipment with suspected satellite system malfunctions are scheduled for maintenance immediately.
- Ensure appropriate parts are ordered for specific jobs as well as parts inventory to prevent vehicles from having to operate without satellite capability.
- Coordinate all warranty related issues with Maintenance Operation Manager to maximize warranty coverage on all satellite components.
- Update satellite parts tracing database as required to provide continuous and up to date information to management regarding satellite parts and warranty status.
