JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Purpose:
Maintain all plumbing and related equipment in top working order so as to minimize interruption of the education process caused by equipment failure.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED certificate
Valid Texas driver's license
Must be eligible to drive based on the Texas DPS School Transportation Guidelines
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and the ability to communicate effectively
Ability to read construction documents
Demonstrated skill in performing tasks required in assignment
Experience:
Five (5) years experience in plumbing trades
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Maintain, repair, and replace sinks, lavatories, faucets, urinals, commodes, flush valves, drinking fountains, shower mixing valves, and other plumbing components
2. Repair and replace kitchen stoves, hot water heaters, circulating pumps; observe safety guidelines in lighting pilots; inspect finished work for proper and safe operation.
3. Utilize building blueprints to locate and maintain grease traps and to locate other sources of problems.
4. Maintain city plumbing code standards for all maintenance, repairs and installations of equipment, perform annual gas inspection for all Waco ISD facilities.
5. Complete assigned training and maintain certification to include asbestos related activities
6. Available to respond to emergencies and perform duties at times other than normally scheduled work periods
7. Turn in completed work orders, daily time logs, invoices, gas cards, and insure that tools and equipment are properly used.
8. Perform plumbing tasks as assigned by the plumber section leader in all district facilities ensuring proper maintenance, safety and overall efficiency while working with others in a positive, productive way.
9. Represent the district and maintenance department in a courteous, professional manner.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Power and hand tools, sewer machine, pipe threader, torches, pipe locator.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Typical school atmosphere. Frequent interruptions. Strenuous standing, stooping, walking, climbing ladders, bending, pushing and pulling, must be physically fit and able to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Working indoors, outdoors, in extreme temperatures including hot and cold temperature swings, inclement weather, works with chemicals, exposure to dust, and slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Frequent district wide travel.
