Job Summary
The Site Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in providing safety guidance and direction on industrial and commercial construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of construction management principles, OSHA compliance regulations, and occupational health standards. The Safety Coordinator will ensure that all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client requirements.
Duties
- Oversee safety operations of the company to ensure compliance with safety and health regulations including OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA and NFPA
- Implement and conduct new safety training programs.
- Utilize construction management tools to create overall job site safety plans and hazard assessments.
- Assist with all accident investigations and reporting to include root cause analysis.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential safety issues and implement corrective actions.
- Build strong relationships with team members, leadership, subcontractors and stakeholders to promote a collaborative work environment and a safety culture
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations including new PPE, equipment and construction trends.
Qualifications
- OSHA 30 Preferred but will train.
- Minimum of 2 years safety experience in the construction industry.
- Ability to learn, follow instructions, and audit field projects with oversight from Director of Safety.
- Familiarity with occupational health standards and EPA requirements.
- Strong ability to perform compliance audits.
- Conduct daily stand up and ad-hoc tool box talks.
- Proficient in using construction management software for safety compliance.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams and various types of construction projects.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
