Job Summary
The Athena Claims Entry and Follow-Up position is part-time , but critical in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of claims within our healthcare organization. This role involves entering claims data into the Athena system, following up on outstanding claims, and resolving any discrepancies to ensure prompt payment. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of medical billing processes.
Duties
- Accurately enter claims information into the Athena system, ensuring all data is complete and correct.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding claims to expedite resolution and payment.
- Communicate with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to resolve claim issues.
- Review denied claims, identify reasons for denial, and take appropriate action for resubmission.
- Maintain organized records of all claims processed and follow-up activities.
- Collaborate with team members to improve processes related to claims entry and follow-up.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and changes affecting claims processing.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration or billing preferred.
- Previous experience in medical billing in Athena claims processing is required.
- Familiarity with the Athena health system is mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software applications related to claims processing.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interaction with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
