As a Welding Associate in aircraft manufacturing, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding operations on aircraft components and structures. Your role involves working with various materials and welding processes to ensure the structural integrity, safety, and quality of aircraft components.
What you will do
Welding Operations
- Perform welding operations, including TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and other specialized processes, to join aircraft components and structures.
- Follow precise welding techniques and parameters to meet engineering specifications and quality standards.
Material Preparation
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, and cleaning to ensure proper fit and weldability.
- Select appropriate welding consumables and filler materials based on project requirements.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect welded joints for defects, such as cracks, voids, or porosity.
- Conduct visual inspections to verify the quality of welds and make necessary repairs or adjustments.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring the safe handling of welding equipment and materials.
- Follow aviation regulations and welding standards to ensure compliance with industry requirements.
Tool and Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain and clean welding equipment, tools, and fixtures, reporting any malfunctions or maintenance needs for repair.
- Ensure that welding machines are calibrated and in good working condition.
Documentation
- Keep detailed records of welding parameters, procedures, and inspection results.
- Complete required documentation for quality control and traceability.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and other team members to resolve welding-related issues, improve processes, and meet project objectives.
- Communicate effectively within the team to ensure coordination and workflow efficiency.
- Also, you may be required to perform other duties as assigned by management or as necessary to meet the organization's needs.
What we are looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of various welding techniques, materials, and welding codes and standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials and welding equipment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment with varying schedules.
Preferred:
- Vocational or technical training in welding is preferred.
- Welding certification(s) relevant to the specific welding processes used in aircraft manufacturing.
- Previous experience in aircraft welding or a related field is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with aviation regulations and safety practices related to welding operations.
