Position:  Supervisor of Counseling and Student Well-Being

Location:  Wachusett Regional School District

Pay Range: $95,000 - $110,000 

Work Year: 200 Days

Representation: Individual Contract

Reports To: Director of Student Support 

 

Position Overview

 

The Supervisor of Counseling and Student Well-Being provides districtwide leadership, coordination, and oversight of K–12 school counseling services, student well-being initiatives, and related student support programs. Working under the direction of the Director of Student Support, the Supervisor develops and supports a comprehensive, vertically aligned system of counseling, student wellness, social-emotional learning, and related student supports that promote the academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and post-secondary success of all students.

The Supervisor provides leadership and supervision to school counselors and collaborates with principals, adjustment counselors, school psychologists, nurses, educators, special education staff, families, community agencies, and outside providers to ensure coordinated, equitable, and evidence-based student support services across the District.

The Supervisor serves as a member of the District Student Support Leadership Team and assumes additional responsibilities related to student support services as assigned by the Director of Student Support.

 

Student Well-Being and Prevention

  • Lead districtwide student well-being initiatives.
  • Coordinate the District's PK–12 social-emotional learning framework.
  • Promote positive school climate, belonging, resilience, and prevention programming.
  • Plan and provide professional development in SEL, trauma-informed practices, and student mental health.
  • Support schools in embedding student well-being into daily instruction and school culture.

Counseling Leadership

  • Provide districtwide leadership, coordination, supervision, professional development, and support for K–12 school counseling programs and personnel.
  • Supervise and evaluate school counselors.
  • Develop and continuously improve a comprehensive, vertically aligned K–12 school counseling program.
  • Establish consistent counseling practices across all schools.
  • Coordinate college, career, and post-secondary readiness initiatives.
  • Analyze counseling program data to improve student outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment with the ASCA National Model and Massachusetts best practices.

Student Support Services

  • Coordinate districtwide counseling and student support initiatives.
  • Support medically fragile students in accessing home hospital supports.
  • Support implementation of MTSS and Tier II/Tier III interventions.
  • Coordinate McKinney-Vento services and ensure compliance with federal and state requirements.
  • Coordinate transportation for students experiencing homelessness, foster care, and other protected populations.
  • Support attendance improvement, chronic absenteeism reduction, and student re-entry.
  • Coordinate community partnerships and parent education.
  • Participate in crisis response, threat assessment, and emergency planning.

District Leadership

  • Advise the Director of Student Support on counseling and student well-being initiatives.
  • Collaborate with principals to strengthen student support systems.
  • Use data to guide continuous improvement.
  • Remain current on laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Education, Educational Leadership, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
  • Appropriate Massachusetts DESE licensure.
  • Successful K–12 experience.
  • Strong knowledge of counseling, SEL, MTSS, and student mental health.

Preferred: counseling licensure, administrative licensure, supervisory experience, and experience with McKinney-Vento, foster care, attendance, transportation, and community partnerships.
