Site Work Estimator
Waccamaw Excavating and Grading is seeking an experienced Site Work Estimator to join our growing team.
We are looking for someone who understands heavy civil/site development and can accurately estimate projects from plans and specifications through final bid submission.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete quantity takeoffs from civil/site plans
- Estimate earthwork, including clearing, stripping, cut/fill, import/export, grading, and subgrade preparation
- Estimate storm drainage systems, structures, and associated stone/backfill
- Estimate water mains, fire lines, hydrants, valves, fittings, and services
- Estimate sanitary sewer mains, services, and structures
- Estimate erosion control and site stabilization
- Estimate stone base, fine grading, paving preparation, and related site work
- Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents
- Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Develop labor, equipment, material, trucking, and production costs
- Identify potential scope gaps, conflicts, and project risks before bidding
- Prepare competitive proposals and bid breakdowns
- Assist with change-order pricing and project cost reviews
- Maintain organized estimating files and historical pricing
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with hands-on knowledge of site construction, not simply general construction estimating experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous estimating experience in site work, excavation, grading, utilities, or heavy civil construction
- Strong understanding of earthwork and underground utility construction
- Ability to read civil construction plans and specifications
- Experience performing digital quantity takeoffs
- Understanding of equipment production, crew production, trucking, and material quantities
- Strong computer and spreadsheet skills
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines
- Field experience in excavation/site work is a major plus
Experience with estimating/takeoff software and GPS/earthwork modeling is preferred.
