What are the responsibilities and job description for the APPRAISER I, II, III position at Wabasha County Human Resources?
Appraise and assess all types of real and personal property in Wabasha County. This includes the appraisal of residential, agricultural, and seasonal recreational, timber, commercial, leased, industrial, and mobile home properties.
Appraise all new construction in the districts assigned.
Make inquires and data entry within the tax package on the AS400 as well as the Computerized Mass Appraisal System (CAMA).
Works with the Auditor/Treasurer’s Office and Recorder’s Office to obtain current tax information for the taxpayer, dealing with property transfers, property descriptions, assessments to properties, special taxing districts, previous years taxes, and property abatements, and to obtain ownership and contract mortgage information on deeds and in securing information on plat and deed recording.
Be available to other county offices, taxpayers, taxpayer representatives, and to the public to answer any questions regarding the determined market value of property. Be available and able to figure property taxes as generated from such determined values
Attend Local Boards of Review with County Assessor.
Be available to attend County Board of Equalization with County Assessor to explain the appraisal of property in his/her designated districts.
Be available to defend in a professional manner, in conjunction with the County Assessor and County Attorney such legal actions as tax petitions in District Court, road acquisition claims, and real property damage court suits in County District Court.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
