Machine Operator II

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Understand all functions of machinery. Determines materials needed from BOM. Read blue prints and BOM's to determine tolerances and check parts against prints to ensure quality of parts being cut. Based on appearance and quality of parts being produced, makes appropriate adjustments. Use basic hand tools such as grinders, drills, clamps, saws, etc. Use basic measuring tools to measure parts and / or components to check / verify parts / components meet print and tolerance specifications. Conduct tooling setup, calibration, and offsetting to achieve required performance and quality. Load, unload, and accurately fixture multiple types of part. Adjust feeds, speeds, and cut depths to optimize tool life and cut quality. Setup & operate based upon input provided by CNC routing programmer and determine changes in program as required during the prove out phase of operation . Identify opportunities to streamline cut routines and communicate these opportunities to CNC routing programmer. Conduct basic troubleshooting of cut quality and performance. Performs operator preventative maintenance. Use knowledge of machine and its characteristics to communicate problems with equipment and assist maintenance personnel in maintaining and trouble shooting. Must be able to use overhead crane. adhere to all safety rules and perform work at a quality level consistent with Transcraft standards. May be required to perform other duties as required by Supervisor. Supervised by coordinator or manager

QUALIFICATIONS :

Must have both written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to use various measuring tools / devices. Must be able to read engineering prints and cut sheets. Must be able to read CNC router language (G and M code) and advance or repeat sections of code if necessary. High school degree or G.E.D. equivalent is required for this position. Knowledge of and at least 1 year of experience in CNC machining (3-axis) preferred.
