What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Operations Tech II position at Wabash General Hospital?
The Plant Operations Tech II is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures throughout the hospital and hospital-owned facilities. This role requires troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintaining specialized hospital systems such as emergency generator power, fire alarms, and nurse call systems. The Maintenance Technician performs and documents preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and life safety systems, ensuring compliance with electrical codes, hospital safety protocols, and regulatory standards. The position participates in an on-call rotation and responds to emergency calls as needed. The Maintenance Technician maintains accurate documentation of work performed and updates maintenance records regularly. In addition to electrical work, the technician must be able to perform tasks in all trades, including construction, plumbing, HVAC, painting, and specialized healthcare systems. Responsibilities also include supporting Infection Prevention protocols during maintenance activities to prevent contamination, participating as a member of the decontamination team, and assisting other team members with repairs and work order completion for building systems such as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, HVAC, generators, boilers, and lighting.
Schedule: Monday-Friday Hours: 7:30-4:00
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of various hand tools. Previous maintenance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of construction trades helpful.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, attention to detail and good documentation skills.
- Able to work independently, manage time, self-motivated, and willing to learn
