Duties
- Install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and repair fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and local codes
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, system design documents, and CAD drawings to ensure accurate system setup
- Conduct construction inspections to verify proper installation practices for fire alarm components and related systems
- Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment to calibrate sensors, alarms, and low voltage wiring connections
- Perform system commissioning and ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and fire safety regulations
- Collaborate with construction teams during new builds or renovations to integrate fire alarm systems seamlessly into building infrastructure
- Provide field service support by diagnosing issues on-site and delivering prompt solutions to minimize system downtime
- Assist in fire sprinkler fitting and mechanical tasks when required, leveraging your broad construction knowledge
- Engage in alarm system sales or fire alarm sales activities by explaining system features to clients and recommending upgrades or enhancements
- Proven experience as a service technician or installer in fire alarm systems or related low voltage systems
- Strong understanding of schematics, electrical wiring, sensors, and system design principles
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and CAD drawings accurately
- Mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools for installation and repairs
- Knowledge of the NEC codes related to electrical wiring and fire alarm systems
- Familiarity with construction processes, inspection procedures, and building safety standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical or sensor issues efficiently
