Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Project Engineer to support the design and delivery of commercial building projects from concept through construction. This role involves developing electrical system designs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, interfacing with clients, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule and within quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) looking to advance their career in a collaborative consulting engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, education, institutional, and mixed-use projects.
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Manage assigned project tasks, schedules, and technical deliverables.
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical support throughout project phases.
- Assist with construction administration, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site visits.
- Review project documents for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Support senior engineers and project managers in delivering moderate to complex projects.
- Contribute to quality control reviews and continuous process improvements.
- Mentor junior designers and collaborate effectively with internal project teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required (PE licensure is a plus but not required).
- 5-6 years of experience in an architectural/MEP consulting engineering environment.
- Experience designing electrical systems for commercial building projects.
- Knowledge of electrical power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Familiarity with construction costs, project coordination, and life-cycle analysis.
- Strong understanding of NEC and other applicable electrical codes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across disciplines.
- Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Experience with healthcare, education, or institutional facilities.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
- Construction administration experience.
