In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, and inspecting industrial control panels used to operate machinery and electrical systems. The ideal candidate has experience reading electrical schematics, installing industrial control components, and ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Panel Assembly & Fabrication
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
- Lay out, drill, tap, and mount electrical components within control panel enclosures.
- Install DIN rail, wire duct, terminal blocks, relays, PLCs, VFDs, power supplies, and other control components.
- Route, label, bundle, and terminate wires according to engineering drawings and established standards.
- Perform point-to-point wiring for both control and power circuits.
- Maintain clean, organized, and serviceable wiring throughout the panel assembly process.
- Perform continuity and functional testing using digital multimeters and other testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot wiring issues and electrical component failures.
- Verify proper operation of completed control panels prior to shipment or installation.
- Update red-line drawings and communicate design or wiring discrepancies.
- Ensure completed panels meet project specifications and quality standards.
- Assist with bill of materials (BOM) verification and inventory tracking when needed.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and electrical safety practices.
- Build control panels in accordance with UL 508A, NEC, and applicable customer specifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial panel building, electrical assembly, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience working with industrial control components, including:
- PLCs
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Relays
- Power supplies
- Motor starters
- Proficient with hand and power tools, including:
- Wire strippers
- Crimpers
- Drills
- Knockout punches
- Saws
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical wiring methods and control systems.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Strong manual dexterity for detailed wiring, assembly, and fabrication work.
