We are seeking a Construction Estimator with proven experience in underground utilities and civil construction who can immediately contribute to our growth. This role is responsible for identifying bidding opportunities, performing accurate takeoffs, and producing competitive, profitable bids across both private and public sectors.
The ideal candidate is not just a number cruncher - they are a pipeline builder who understands how to find work, evaluate opportunities, and help drive consistent backlog for a fast-scaling contractor.

Identify and source bidding opportunities
- Private work (developers, general contractors, utility clients)
- Public work (PlanetBids, Caltrans, municipalities, primes)
- Underground utilities (dry utilities, joint trench, HDD)
- Potholing, trenching, vault/box setting, and restoration scopes
- Labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production rates
- Scope reviews and gap analysis from plans and specifications
- Coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Ensure timely and complete bid submissions
- Monitor deadlines, priorities, and hit rates
- Focus on high-probability, strategic opportunities
- GCs, developers, municipalities, and vendors
- Clarifications, RFIs, and scope alignment
- Help maintain a consistent 3-6 month backlog
- Contribute to estimating systems, pricing strategy, and market insight
3 years estimating experience in underground utilities, civil construction, or related field
Proven Experience With
- Directional drilling (HDD) and/or dry utilities
- Trenching, conduit, and restoration scopes
- Plan reading and specification analysis
- Takeoff software (Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar)
- Excel or estimating platforms
- Private development work (preferred)
- Public works projects (strong plus)
- Independently find and pursue work to bid
- Understand production rates and real-world field operations
- Manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and results-driven
Salary : $80,000 - $120,000
