Key Responsibilities
Civil Engineering & Design
- Assist with the planning and design of municipal infrastructure and public works projects.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, technical memoranda, and feasibility studies.
- Develop construction drawings and engineering plans for civil infrastructure projects.
- Design stormwater management systems in accordance with local and state regulations.
- Prepare Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
- Perform roadway and transportation-related design.
- Develop erosion and sediment control plans.
- Assist in water distribution and wastewater collection system design.
- Support water and wastewater treatment process design projects.
- Prepare construction specifications and engineering details.
- Coordinate utility layouts and infrastructure improvements.
- Assist Project Managers with project scheduling and coordination.
- Monitor project progress to ensure schedules and deliverables are met.
- Coordinate with architects, surveyors, environmental consultants, and contractors.
- Attend project meetings with municipalities, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Assist in preparing project cost estimates and quantity takeoffs.
- Support permitting applications and regulatory approvals.
- Assist during construction by reviewing shop drawings and contractor submittals.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Conduct occasional field visits and site observations.
- Review construction activities for compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Document field observations and prepare inspection reports.
- Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Ensure projects comply with applicable engineering standards and environmental regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of evolving engineering codes, standards, and best practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 1-5 years of professional civil engineering experience or equivalent internship/co-op experience.
- Experience or coursework related to municipal engineering or civil site design.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and design practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional site visits.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
- Experience with municipal infrastructure projects.
- Experience preparing SWPPP reports.
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment systems.
- Experience with roadway and stormwater design.
- Familiarity with erosion and sediment control requirements.
- Experience working with local municipalities or public agencies.
- Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
