Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense

Position Overview

A well-established law firm in Scottsdale, Arizona is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of legal experience to join its team on a full-time basis.

The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense, personal injury, civil litigation, or in-house legal work with an insurance company. However, the firm is also open to considering attorneys with limited direct experience who demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills, strong academic credentials, and a genuine interest in developing a career in civil litigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage assigned civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
• Conduct legal research and analysis
• Draft pleadings, motions, correspondence, discovery, and other legal documents
• Assist with case strategy and litigation preparation
• Review and analyze legal documents, claims, and case materials
• Participate in discovery and other litigation activities
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties
• Provide responsive and high-quality client service
• Maintain organized case files and effectively manage deadlines
• Support attorneys and the legal team with case preparation and litigation matters
• Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and other proceedings as required
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Arizona and in good standing
• 2-5 years of legal experience
• Strong understanding of civil litigation principles and procedures
• Excellent legal research and writing abilities
• Strong drafting and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines
• Strong interpersonal and client-service skills
  
  

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

• Insurance defense
• Personal injury litigation
• Civil litigation
• In-house legal work with an insurance carrier
• Claims-related litigation
• Defense-side litigation
  
  

Attorneys without direct insurance defense or personal injury experience may also be considered if they have strong academic credentials, exceptional people skills, and a demonstrated ability to learn and succeed in a litigation environment.
