Key Responsibilities
The Account Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of assigned client accounts, ensuring effective administration of employee benefits programs. This role serves as the primary liaison between clients, benefit consultants, vendors, and internal teams. The position requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and sound judgment in handling complex benefits-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for assigned client accounts, coordinating with consultants, client representatives, employees, and vendors
- Manage day-to-day and escalated issues related to eligibility, claims, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA, ACA, and other benefits compliance matters
- Develop, update, and distribute employee benefits materials, including:
- Plan documents and amendments
- Benefit booklets
- Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC)
- Enrollment forms and ID cards
- Coordinate resolution of complex employee and plan-level issues beyond standard eligibility support
- Prepare and present reports for client meetings, board meetings, and enrollment sessions
- Analyze claims data and provide insights and recommendations for plan improvements
- Support annual renewal process and contract review/presentation
- Ensure all plan-related contracts and documentation are properly maintained
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to ensure smooth benefits administration
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Advanced knowledge of self-funded employee welfare benefit plans.
- Intermediate understanding of federal laws applicable to administering employee welfare benefit plans (ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, Transparency, No Surprises Act).
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of client's management team and employee population.
- Detail oriented skill set to generate reports, analyze data and prepare comprehensive reporting.
- Proven ability to exercise discretionary judgement.
- Strong organization skills.
- Travel required to client locations - primarily via driving but may also include commercial flights.
