Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bankruptcy Paralegal to join our Annapolis office. This in-office role will provide direct support to attorneys in the Bankruptcy Practice Group, assisting with case management, filings, and client communications. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with bankruptcy matters, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, and other required documents in federal bankruptcy courts.
Assist attorneys in preparing motions, pleadings, and related filings.
Manage case calendars, including hearings, filing deadlines, and court appearances.
Maintain organized case files (electronic and physical) and ensure compliance with court requirements.
Communicate with clients to gather necessary information, provide case updates, and coordinate documentation.
Perform legal research related to bankruptcy proceedings and applicable federal/local rules.
Coordinate with courts, trustees, creditors, and opposing counsel as needed.
Support attorneys with trial and hearing preparation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited program preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal, with bankruptcy experience strongly preferred.
Familiarity with electronic filing systems (MDEC, CM/ECF, PACER).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced environment.
