Job Summary

The Paver Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the asphalt paver, delivering a smooth, level mat that meets project specifications. You’ll work hand‑in‑hand with the screed operator and ground crew to lay hot‑mix asphalt on highways, streets, parking lots, and more, ensuring continuous material flow and consistent production.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the asphalt paver to achieve the proper depth, width, slope, crown, and cross‑slope.

• Coordinate with the screed operator and ground crew to maintain consistent paving speed and material feed.

• Monitor paver functions, controls, and material levels throughout the paving process.

• Perform daily pre‑start inspections and basic preventative maintenance on the paver.

• Follow directions from the foreman or superintendent to meet production goals and schedule targets.

• Uphold all company safety policies and maintain a clean, hazard‑free work environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience operating asphalt pavers on roadway or commercial paving projects.

• Proficient in reading grade stakes and interpreting plans for slope, crown, and cross‑slope.

• Familiarity with major paving equipment brands (e.g., CAT, Volvo, Roadtec) preferred.

• Reliable, safety‑conscious, and a strong team player.

• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
