Position Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist follows policy and procedures for all credit and collection-related functions and ensures company and state compliance is maintained. This position collaborates on credit and collection activity for specific locations with a designated Portfolio Partner. It also evaluates and monitors risk associated with credit limits, aged account balances, and other pertinent data, taking appropriate actions to minimize risk to the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Embodies IMPACT and conducts themselves according to these core values during all daily activities and interactions.
- Follows established policies and procedures for all credit and collection functions to ensure company profitability and minimize risk.
- Completes daily tasks including cash drawer balancing, branch invoicing, A/R payment application, and preparation of bank deposits.
- Conducts collection activity on past-due and over-credit accounts via calls, emails, and letters.
- Assists customers with account reconciliations and provides invoices, proofs of delivery, and statements upon request.
- Prepares and processes refund requests according to company SOP.
- Manages credit risk with Portfolio Partner to meet performance metrics.
- Processes credit applications within 1 business day, pending credit reference verification and/or credit report results.
- Reviews existing accounts for credit limit changes based on history, tenure, and creditworthiness.
- Manages total account exposure, including open orders, to remain within 20% of credit limits.
- Reviews credit queues for assigned branches to determine whether orders should be released or held.
- Collaborates with Sales and Ops to drive growth and customer satisfaction.
- Escalates issues when normal collection procedures are ineffective and proactively communicates account performance concerns.
- Promotes and educates customers on online and lockbox payment options.
- Participates in monthly receivables reviews with Regional Sales Managers.
- Follows record retention guidelines for AR paperwork.
- Conducts annual tax-exempt audits for the previous 3 years of sales.
- Seen as a knowledgeable contributor and expert within the credit and AR space.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma plus 5 years of full-cycle Accounts Receivable experience required - including credit queues.
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
- Agility system experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Self-starter with multitasking and deadline management skills.
- Detail-oriented and skilled in credit risk assessment.
- Must be eligible and able to obtain a notary commission.
Compensation:
The starting compensation being offered for this role is $27.00/HR (non-negotiable).
Location & Schedule:
- Office location: Würth Wood Group - 1640 Mims Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, approx. 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Direct hire only – no agencies, third parties, or contracts
