JOB SUMMARY:
Team Leader is responsible for assisting Supervisor to maintain operations in the entire Finishing Department. Performs quality and productivity checks at various work centers, and takes action when issues arise by providing feedback and direction to appropriate personnel. Helps with machine adjustments, set-ups, and change overs, at four high speed cutting/machining/ processing work centers, for wood products. Must be able to work 12 hour rotating day/night shifts, including overtime as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Receives assignments from Shift Supervisor, then assigns and trains members of the group in safe and correct work procedures and communicates performance expectations.
- Plans work to be performed by the group. Assists operators in resolving on-the-job problems through leadership, decision making, and assigning or re-allocating personnel and resources, to achieve safety, quality, and production goals.
- Ensures operators are maintaining standards of quality and productivity by frequent monitoring of shift production and quality reports, as well as performing quality checks to verify material meets specifications.
- Refers problems involving employee discipline to Shift Supervisor.
- With exemplary attendance; demonstrate the performance and dedication expected from all associates.
- Adhere to all company policies relative to wearing PPE and maintaining safe work practices and environments.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITITES:
- Advises Maintenance and Shift Supervisor of any needs, shortages, repairs, etc. requiring attention.
- Provides input and suggestions to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
- May substitute for supervisor in his/her absence.
- Periodically takes raw materials inventory.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Physical fitness to perform maintenance and heavy lifting assignments up to 65 lbs.
- Ability to work as a team with supervisor and other employees.
- Ability to stay focused and organized for long periods of time.
- Must be able to learn and run all Finishing processes and operations
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years leader or supervisory experience preferred.
- Completed National Career Readiness Certificate assessment.
- Experience in high speed cutting/machining/processing operations in a wood products industry preferred. Forklift experience preferred.
