Position Title: ABA Technician (ABA Tech)
Reports To: Principal, Chairperson, Classroom Teacher
Position Summary:
To implement an intensive skill-based program that is grounded in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. This work is performed under the direct supervision of a Master’s level classroom teacher.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all students.
- Provide direct educational services for the duration of the school day.
- Incorporate specific educational objectives into the context of ongoing activities (if appropriate).
- Create opportunities for generalization and maintenance of skills.
- Collect data on targeted skills.
- Communicate with classroom staff.
- Maintain student records in a neat and orderly manner.
- Maintain student-specific materials and reinforcers.
- Communicate any student-specific concerns to the Classroom Teacher.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Classroom Teacher, Principal, or Chairperson.
Weekly Responsibilities:
- Graph and sum student data.
- Participate in school-based and/or classroom-based program meetings and training.
- Collaborate with general educators and specialty service providers as needed for student success.
- Assist with data preparation.
- Complete informal assessments as directed by the classroom teacher.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Previous special education experience preferred.
- Strong desire to work with young children and willingness to learn.
- Prior experience with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
Terms of Employment:
- Work Year: Full-year position, including extended year program.
- Schedule - School Year: School hours plus 30-60 minutes per day longer than student arrival and departure times, five (5) days per week according to the school calendar. Daily lunch break in accordance with the contract.
- Schedule - Extended School Year: School hours plus 30-60 minutes per day longer than student arrival and departure times. Number of workdays varies depending on district ESY program. Daily lunch break.
