Job Summary
The track laborer position involves performing a variety of manual labor tasks to support safe and efficient job site operations. Responsibilities include using hand tools and heavy equipment, setting up and cleaning job sites, moving materials, collaborating with coworkers to complete assigned tasks, and maintaining a safe work environment at all times. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about outdoor work, heavy machinery, and infrastructure development.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all federal, state, and other applicable railroad safety and operational regulations
- Follow instructions when working with a certified trainer, mentor, or supervisor
- Repair and rebuild railroad track using hydraulic or hand tools
- Remove and replace ties and rails; pull and drive spikes; shovel rock ballast; load and unload equipment and material
- Inspect tools and equipment for defects to determine if they are in a safe condition prior to use
- Use various types of tools and equipment, including torches, hammers, jacks, rail saws and other mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot problems on equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely over extended periods outdoors.
- Mechanical aptitude with basic troubleshooting skills for construction equipment
- Experience with welding, power tools, hand tools, and other construction-related equipment is preferred.
- Prior construction site experience in civil infrastructure roles is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and following detailed instructions accurately.
Requirements
- Full time (40 hours per week/ plus overtime)
- Flexible schedule with ability to work some nights/weekends/holidays
- Need to be able to lift up to 50-70 pounds and move heavy equipment/material in place
- Ability to work in various types of weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license
- At least eighteen years of age
- Subject to federally mandated drug and alcohol testing including pre-employment drug screening
- Background screening including criminal and motor vehicle driving history

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
