Greene & Associates offers its employees a Hybrid work schedule. The Hybrid work schedule requires a minimum of three (3) full days per week in the Glastonbury office, with the option of working the remaining days at home or in the office. We are looking for highly motivated candidates for the job of Associate Underwriter. This position is often the path to becoming an Underwriter within the company.


The Associate Underwriter is a support role to an underwriter or team lead. It involves evaluating and analyzing new and renewal submissions from outside producers for commercial casualty insurance. The associate underwriter works closely with the underwriter regarding all servicing aspects of an account cycle, including preparing quotations, binders, and policies. This position includes rating of the primary policies. This position is considered non-exempt. $26 / hour - $34.60 / hour.



Responsibilities

  • Assist underwriters in reviewing and developing new and renewal accounts, including gathering and verifying required information.
  • Process endorsements, including reviewing requests, following up for missing details, and ensuring accuracy.
  • Perform primary rating tasks using ISO and carrier-specific rating systems, supporting accurate and timely quote preparation.
  • Monitor and follow up on underwriting requirements, such as renewal information, loss control reports, and audits, to ensure file compliance.
  • Support marketing efforts by coordinating with marketing personnel on broker visits or promotional activities.
  • Assist underwriters with follow-ups on quotes to secure new or renewal business.
  • Respond to producing agents’ inquiries regarding proposals, endorsements, or policy adjustments promptly and professionally.
  • Process and organize incoming submissions, ensuring completeness and timely distribution to underwriters.
  • Monitor and follow up on renewal requirements, communicating updates or adjustments to producing agents. 
  • Maintain compliant underwriting files, ensuring all required documentation is present and organized.
  • Serve as point of contact for our producing agents, promptly addressing service requests, resolving issues, and providing accurate information.
  • Communicate changes and adjustments to the brokers clearly and professionally to maintain strong relationships.
  • Assist in ensuring broker/producer inquiries and concerns are escalated to underwriters or management when necessary.


Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma. College education, preferred.

B.        EXPERIENCE: a minimum of two (2) years' Commercial Lines prior experience.

C.        LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION:  Must obtain Property & Casualty Brokers License required within 6 months of hire date.

D.        SKILLS: Self-motivated.  Demonstrated time-management; solid interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Decision-making ability. Proficiency in math helpful. Computer proficiency.
