Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on classic vehicles using automotive electrical systems, schematics, and diagnostic tools to identify issues accurately.
- Repair and overhaul engines, including diesel engines and powertrain components, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Interpret automotive wiring diagrams and electrical schematics to troubleshoot complex electrical systems within vintage cars.
- Conduct mechanical repairs such as engine rebuilds, transmission servicing, suspension adjustments, brake repairs, and alignment procedures.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and manual handling techniques safely to perform repairs efficiently.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance performed on each vehicle for documentation and future reference.
- Assist with auto body repairs when necessary, including welding or panel replacement to restore vehicles to their original condition.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair processes clearly and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the service experience.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in automotive repair, ideally within a dealership or specialized garage focusing on classic or GM vehicles.
- Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics tools and an ability to interpret schematics for electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of automotive engine system repair, including both gasoline and diesel engines.
- Familiarity with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) is a plus but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
- Skilled in heavy lifting and manual handling techniques necessary for vehicle maintenance tasks.
- Experience with auto body repair, welding, alignment procedures, and automotive electrical systems is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex vehicle issues efficiently.
