Join us and be part of a legacy built on excellence!Position Overview: The Radiographer Level II independently performs radiographic inspections to identify defects in materials and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and enhancing the safety and quality of products. To support the goals and objectives of both internal and external customers. This is done with safety as a priority, while achieving standard cost and maintaining our quality and schedule requirements.Primary Responsibilities:Independently plan, set up, and conduct radiographic inspections on steel castings using high power X-ray equipment and radioisotopes. Choosing appropriate techniques and parameters to accurately detect material defects.Interpret radiographic images, and evaluate findings against ASME, NAVSEA standards, and other acceptance criteria. Review customer specification requirements within the Synchro, and Unibus systems to determine the acceptability of materials and components based on the established criteria.Assist in the training of Level I Radiographers, and Trainees providing them with guidance and training in radiographic techniques, equipment operation, and safety protocols.Oversee and ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and protocols, particularly regarding radiation safety, to protect oneself, personnel and the environment.Maintain radiographic equipment and accessories, ensuring they are in optimal condition for precise inspections.Experience:Performed non-destructive testing (NDT) using radiographic techniques (RT Level II) to inspect steel castings for internal and surface defectsInterpreted radiographic images in accordance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASTM E446, ASME Section V, and customer-specific requirements)Prepared and positioned steel castings for radiographic examination using gamma and X-ray sources in accordance with safety protocols and exposure chartsEvaluated film quality and image clarity, identifying and documenting discontinuities such as shrinkage, porosity, and inclusionsCoordinated with quality, production, and engineering teams to resolve non-conformances and support continuous improvement effortsMaintained accurate inspection records, reports, and radiographic logs in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory standardsEnsured adherence to radiation safety procedures and maintained compliance with IRRSP certification requirementsQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent (required)Documented training in industrial radiographyPrevious or current SNT-TC-1A Level II certification and IRRSP certificationMust be able to provide previous exposure records upon requestExcellent written and oral communication skillsSelf-motivated and able to work independentlyEmployment eligibility requires U.S. person status under ITAR regulations, including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or other protected individuals due to export control requirements.Skills and Knowledge:Ability to interpret ASME, ASTM, military standards, customer specifications, and technical drawingsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applicationsSolid mathematical aptitude, including a strong foundation in algebraSkilled in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprintsPhysical Requirements:Must have the ability to stand and walk on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for the duration the work shiftMust have the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds continuouslyMust be able to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job dutiesMust be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Must be capable of passing a near vision (Jaeger 1) eye exam with corrected or uncorrected vision and a brightness discrimination examMust physically able to work in a restricted radiation areaPay Range: $36.84 - $41.62 an hour (depending on experience)Schedule: Monday - Friday, 2:30pm - 11:00pmWhy join our team at Vulcan Metals Corp?We believe our people are our greatest asset.
