VST Engineering is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer (PE) with strong Maintenance of Way (MOW) and transportation infrastructure experience to support transportation and transit projects throughout California. This role is ideal for a self-driven engineer capable of developing engineering design packages and coordinating multidisciplinary rail and roadway improvements from concept through final design.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop civil engineering design and plan sheets from scratch
- Produce construction documents and technical drawings for rail, roadway, and transportation infrastructure projects
- Develop and coordinate:
- Grading and drainage plans
- Track alignment and MOW-related improvements
- Utility coordination plans
- Pavement rehabilitation and pavement engineering designs
- Signing/striping and roadway improvement plans
- Traffic handling and staging plans
- Prepare and review specifications, quantities, and engineer’s estimates
- Coordinate with agencies, clients, and internal project teams
- Support field investigations and construction coordination as needed
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Strong experience in Maintenance of Way (MOW) engineering
- Ability to independently generate engineering design and plan sheets
- Experience developing Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) / traffic handling plans
- Strong experience preparing:
- Traffic control and staging plans
- Construction sequencing plans
- Civil roadway and transportation plan sets
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Pavement engineering experience strongly preferred
- Rail/transit agency experience a plus
- Experience with Caltrans standards and California public agency requirements
- Track, roadway, and utility coordination experience preferred
