We are seeking a highly skilled UX Designer with an active Secret clearance to support the design and optimization of user experiences for secure, mission-critical applications. Key Responsibilities
- Design user-centered interfaces for secure web and software applications used by government or defense-related customers
- Conduct user research, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and stakeholder interviews within a cleared environment
- Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and design documentation to communicate design intent
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and security, to ensure solutions are feasible, accessible, and aligned with program requirements
- Apply industry best practices for usability, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 ), and responsive design
- Iterate on designs based on qualitative and quantitative research insights
- Contribute to and help maintain a design system supporting classified and unclassified products
- Ensure all design deliverables comply with security, handling, and data-protection guidelines
- Active DoD Secret clearance (or higher)
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- 3–5 years of professional UX design experience
- Demonstrated experience producing UX artifacts (journey maps, personas, wireframes, prototypes, research summaries)
- Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Axure)
- Strong visual design, interaction design, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with Agile or hybrid development teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
- Experience supporting federal, DoD, or defense contractor programs
- Familiarity with secure development environments and constraints on classified systems
- Experience designing complex enterprise, data-heavy, or mission-critical applications
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS or front-end frameworks (for collaboration purposes)
- Experience contributing to or managing design systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related field—or equivalent practical experience
