EW LEAD TEST ENGINEER

Job Summary

The position is Lead Test Engineer (LTE), Human and Electronic warfare Autonomy Teaming (HEAT) Project, for the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), located at NAS Point Mugu, California. The LTE will provide Test & Evaluation (T&E) expertise and provide programmatic and technical direction for all the T&E activities of test team members to include test/demonstration planning, test/demonstration scenario development, test/demonstration execution (as the HEAT AEA SIL Test Conductor), test/demonstration data analysis and report writing/review.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of all T&E planning documents associated with program organization, product development, material acquisition, program budgets, schedules and reports
• Coordinates test team efforts, directs test team tasking as required, and ensures requirements-based test planning is performed in accordance with NAVAIR Instruction 3960.4 series
• Coordinates aircraft flight requests, utilize flight scheduling/FIST, executes flight test, flight oversight/coordination, and flight test reporting
• Support fleet units involved in operational missions when planning and executing complex missions in real world combat scenarios
• Ensures Test Team’s analyses/report of test results are complete, timely, and technically accurate in accordance with NAVAIR Instruction 3905.1
• Participate in several work groups (Test Plan Working Group, Flight Test Planning, Sprint Planning, etc.)
• Interact with the Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) IPT, the U.S./Australia Airborne Multi-Platform Electronic Warfare Project Arrangement (AMPEW PA) personnel, PMA-234, PMA-265, Australia Department of Defense - Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), and industry partners Northrop Grumman Corporation and Boeing
  
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or 15 years related technical experience)
• 10 years of EW test engineering experience
• Subject matter expertise in EW functional requirements, test/use cases, test demonstration structures, and laboratory & flight test systems
• Understanding of general software structure, algorithms, and output data
• U.S. Citizenship
• Active Secret Clearance
• If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Top Secret Clearance
• Directs test team tasking as required and ensures requirements-based test planning is performed
• Provide test requirements for lab modernization to support future test programs
• Develop new test engineering techniques and processes to ensure efficient and effective testing
