Senior Data Architect

Location: Oakland or Rancho Cordova CA(Hybrid)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to design and implement scalable, secure, high-performing, and modern cloud-native data solutions. This role will leverage deep expertise in data architecture and emerging technologies to establish enterprise data standards, architecture patterns, and technology roadmaps.

The Senior Data Architect will partner closely with business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Application Development, and IT leadership to translate business requirements into scalable data capabilities that support current needs and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of enterprise data solutions, translating business strategy and requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing architectures.

· Define target-state data architectures and blueprints, including data flows, integration patterns, storage strategies, processing, and consumption layers.

· Establish and govern standards for data ingestion, transformation (ETL/ELT), integration, interoperability, and data sharing across platforms and domains.

· Architect scalable and resilient data pipelines and workflows, optimizing performance, cost, reliability, and operational efficiency.

· Design cloud-native data architectures leveraging modern data platforms for elasticity, resiliency, modularity, and scalability.

· Enable AI/ML and Generative AI capabilities through architectures supporting experimentation, feature engineering, model development, deployment, and production consumption.

· Incorporate data governance, security, privacy, lineage, classification, masking, access controls, and regulatory compliance into architecture by design.

· Design interoperability and seamless data exchange across applications, platforms, data domains, APIs, and external systems.

· Evaluate and select data technologies and platforms in partnership with IT, Enterprise Architecture, and business stakeholders.

· Collaborate with Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Application Development, Enterprise Architecture, and business teams to define technology roadmaps and solution strategies.

· Provide architectural oversight and governance for enterprise and cloud-native data platforms, identifying architectural risks, gaps, dependencies, and trade-offs.

· Drive innovation through POCs, pilots, feasibility assessments, and evaluation of emerging technologies.

· Provide architecture oversight for vendor and third-party data solutions.

· Participate in architecture governance forums, design reviews, architecture decisions, and approvals.

· Mentor data architects and engineers and promote architecture best practices and continuous capability development.

Required Qualifications

· 4 years of experience in modern cloud data architecture or related areas, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

· Strong understanding of modern data and analytics platforms and technologies, including:

o Snowflake

o Matillion

o Microsoft Fabric

o Power BI

o Tableau

· Proven experience designing enterprise-scale solutions involving data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouse architectures, data management, integration, and analytics platforms.

· Strong experience architecting end-to-end scalable data platforms using modern cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure.

· Experience with cloud-native, hybrid, and multi-cloud architectures.

· Strong understanding of architectural patterns across data ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, APIs, and microservices.

· Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable enterprise data architectures.

· Strong experience working with vendors and third-party technology partners.

· Strong foundation in data governance, data quality, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.

· Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex architecture concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Experience architecting platforms supporting Advanced Analytics, AI/ML, MCP, and Generative AI use cases, while maintaining appropriate governance, security, scalability, and performance.
