Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse specialized in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute cardiac conditions, including post-surgical recovery, heart failure management, and arrhythmia stabilization.
- Monitor patient vital signs continuously using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic and Cerner, documenting all assessments accurately and promptly.
- Administer medications safely, including IV infusions, pain management therapies, and specialized treatments like Botulinum toxin injections for specific conditions.
- Assist with complex procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, ventilator management, and aseptic techniques during invasive interventions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and case managers to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with NCQA standards and trauma medicine protocols.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations, physiology evaluations, and diagnostic evaluations like laboratory tests or imaging such as CT scans or sonography.
- Provide education on disease processes, discharge planning, and post-hospitalization care strategies for patients with diverse needs including geriatrics, memory care, or behavioral health considerations.
Skills
- Proven experience in critical care settings such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers with familiarity in trauma medicine and emergency medicine protocols.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, airway management techniques, and advanced life support procedures such as basic life support (BLS).
- Skilled in performing venipuncture (phlebotomy), IV insertions/injections, catheterization procedures (including Foley and central lines), and sterile processing techniques.
- Experience working with specialized populations such as patients requiring dialysis, hospice & palliative care or those with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
- Ability to manage acute pain effectively while demonstrating excellent patient assessment skills in fast-paced environments like emergency rooms or urgent care centers.
