SUMMARY: The Welding Technician I is responsible for executing precision welding operations on various aerospace components and structures, ensuring compliance with strict industry standards and specifications. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity and performance of critical aircraft parts through quality welding and repair.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform TIG welding on aerospace components, adhering to precise specifications.
- Read and follow technical manuals, verbal instructions, blueprints, and work orders on a daily basis.
- Apply repair instructions and/or Engine Manual requirements to restore components to operational condition.
- Use fixtures, tungsten arc, automatic welding equipment, and hand welding techniques to repair worn or damaged areas, including cracks, on aircraft parts.
- Weld, blend, grind, and polish weld buildup on worn or defective surfaces to meet quality standards.
- Work with various aerospace materials such as Titanium, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum.
- Operate specialized welding equipment, including Dabber TIG and Electron Beam machines.
- Maintain active welding certifications in specific welds and materials as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2 years of relevant technical experience in welding.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and data.
- Ability to operate welding equipment independently.
- Basic understanding of metal behavior and movement during the welding process.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Prior certifications for welding Titanium, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel.
- Familiarity with heat treatment processes.
- Blending and finishing experience.
