What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plasma Technician (789) position at VSE AVIATION?
SUMMARY: The Plasma Technician I supports the thermal spray (plasma, wire arc, HVOF, etc.) coating process by preparing parts, operating plasma equipment, and performing basic inspections.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with setting up and operating plasma spray equipment to apply coatings on aerospace parts.
- Prepare parts for coating, including cleaning and masking as necessary.
- Perform basic plasma coating processes under the guidance of more experienced technicians.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of coated parts to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Maintain and clean plasma spray equipment, following safety protocols.
- Document process data and inspection results as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in thermal/plasma spraying or a related field.
- Basic understanding of plasma spray operations and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of coating application techniques.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Hands-on experience in a related OEM or MRO Manufacturing/Process Engineering discipline.
- 3 years of hands-on experience in plasma spraying or thermal spray processes.
- Familiarity with plasma coating programs and automated coating equipment.
- Previous experience with masking techniques.
