SUMMARY: The Dev-Ops (Development/Operations) Engineer will be responsible for all aspects related to automation involving software, data, and systems, both on-premises and in-cloud. The individual must have a strong Dev/Ops background as well as experience in both application development and enterprise systems administration, particularly within the context of a Microsoft-centric organization (i.e., Azure, .NET, Windows Servers, GitHub, PowerShell, etc.). Experience with Dev/Ops within the context of large-scale eCommerce and complex Web applications is a major plus. Must be self-driven and possess strong technical and business acumen as well as solid judgement when presented with ambiguous situations or novel technologies.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Own and optimize the Build/Test/Deploy automation pipeline across staging and production for systems, data, and applications.
- Drive CI/CD practices across on-prem, remote, and cloud environments with a focus on automation, reliability, and repeatability.
- Automate application testing, deployment, and release workflows, including configuration management and Git-based version control.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code solutions for provisioning and managing cloud and on-prem resources.
- Collaborate with the Infrastructure team to design scalable, resilient, cloud-optimized architectures (e.g., Azure databases, VMs, containers, managed services).
- Leverage containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS) to streamline deployment and runtime environments.
- Develop custom automation tools and scripts using PowerShell, Python, and other relevant technologies.
- Implement monitoring, observability, and alerting solutions to ensure system health, performance, and reliability.
- Support incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Take the lead in the change-management process, including participation in front of CABs.
- Share in On-call rotation responsibilities for a global 24/7/365 business environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science (CS) or management information systems (MIS).
- OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
- 5 years’ experience with enterprise-class Windows-based environments.
- 3 years’ experience with enterprise-class Azure-based environments.
- 3 years’ experience in an enterprise Dev/Ops Role.
- Strong familiarity with GitHub CoPilot, Claude, and/or other AI platforms and how to leverage their capabilities within the context of the enterprise while adhering to enterprise and security best practices.
- Strong proficiency in application development/code writing, including PowerShell and Python, specifically for DevOps.
- Demonstrated experience documenting and being part of a global production team.
- Ability to innovate and continually drive improvement in systems and processes with minimal supervision.
- Willing to travel up to 25% of the time for projects/work.
- Able to work in a professional office environment at least 3 days per week if in a geographic location where VSE maintains offices.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience designing distributed systems for high-traffic e-commerce including data orchestration and flow.
- Strong familiarity with ERP and Database systems.
- Demonstrated innovation and transformative project success within an enterprise environment.
