The Medical Assistant assumes a pivotal role within VisionQuest by spearheading the team's approach to non-clinical
health service delivery. The Medical Assistant duties encompass assisting with evaluating, facilitating, and overseeing
all aspects of the unaccompanied children’s medical care. Emphasizing disease prevention and health upkeep, the
Medical Assistant collaborates closely with the Lead Medical Coordinator and the Medical Coordinator to ensure
children in our care receive the best health services available and timely medical intervention.

Essential Functions
- Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain knowledge of all applicable ORR, state, and federal regulations governing
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards in all health-related
- Assist the Lead Medical Coordinator and Medical Coordinator with maintaining accurate,
the VisionQuest database and ORR-UC Portal, and hard copies of required records.
- Maintain medication administration logs and ensure all documentation meets
- Support the Lead Medical Coordinator and Medical Coordinator in completing medical
- Medical Care Support and Coordination
- Assist with scheduling medical, dental, and mental health appointments in compliance
- Coordinate and provide transportation or escort services for UCs to and from
- Support the Lead Medical Coordinator and Medical Coordinator and healthcare providers
as appropriate.
- Assist in dispensing and documenting over-the-counter and prescribed medications
- Monitor and promptly report any medical emergencies or urgent health concerns to the
- Track immunizations, screenings, and follow-up care, ensuring timely completion and
- Assist in health education for UCs, providing age-appropriate guidance on hygiene, illness
and Medical Coordinator.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with internal and external
- Work closely with the Lead Medical Coordinator and Medical Coordinator, case

- Participate in departmental and program meetings to stay informed of policy updates,
- Support interdepartmental collaboration to ensure timely sharing of medical information

- Proficient in reading, interpreting and applying ORR policies and procedures including ORR’s
- Organized with attention to detail.
- High school diploma or equivalent degree
- Minimum of 1 year of employment experience working in the child welfare field working with children
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Flexible schedule (evening, weekends, holidays) to facilitate program services.
- Cleared tuberculosis test results.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
- Must be able to provide proof of required vaccinations.
- Cleared background checks from appropriate entities, including Child Abuse and Neglect and FBI
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive to facilitate program services as required.
- May lift and carry up to 10 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds
- Performs tasks that may involve standing or walking 50% of the day; sitting 50%of the day.
- May bend, stoop, reach and grasp as necessary.
- Must be able to provide First Aid and CPR.
- Must be able to perform physical holds as instructed in Crisis Prevention Intervention training
