Position Summary
The Violations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and resolving building violations across the portfolio, ensuring timely correction and full compliance with NYC regulatory agencies. This role manages violations from initial receipt through dismissal, coordinates inspections and hearings, and works closely with Property Management, Superintendents, and the Facilities and Construction teams to ensure corrective actions are completed properly and on time. The position plays a key role in minimizing financial exposure, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting overall building operations through proactive monitoring and preventative compliance practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and track violations issued by HPD, Jack Jaffa, DOB, and ECB from receipt through dismissal.
- Coordinate inspections, re-inspections, hearings, and follow-ups with relevant agencies.
- Review violations to determine corrective scope, required filings, and applicable deadlines.
- Advise and prepare documentation for the Property Management team, Superintendents, Director of Facilities, and Director of Construction to ensure inspection readiness and preventative compliance.
- Coordinate with the Director of Facilities and Superintendents to oversee corrective work performed by contractors and verify completion prior to sign-off.
- Monitor and track violation status across all portfolios and provide regular reports to management, prioritizing severity and potential financial exposure.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in NYC violation removal or code compliance for multifamily residential buildings.
- Experience resolving violations issued by city, state, and local agencies.
- Strong knowledge of NYC Building Code, Fire Code, Administrative Code, DOB NOW, and enforcement procedures for R-2 occupancies.
- Excellent organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working with affordable housing.
- Experience coordinating hearings, inspections, and working with expeditors.
