Job Summary:
Pouring Operator (Chemical Plant)
The Pouring Operator is responsible for safely transferring, pouring, and filling chemical products into designated containers, tanks, or production systems according to company procedures and safety regulations. This role ensures accurate measurements, maintains product quality, and follows strict environmental and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate pumps, valves, hoses, and transfer systems to pour chemicals into containers, drums, tanks, or mixing systems.
- Measure and verify quantities using calibrated equipment.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for handling hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
- Monitor flow rates, temperature, and pressure during transfer operations.
- Label containers accurately and ensure proper documentation.
- Inspect containers for leaks, damage, or contamination before and after filling.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety standards.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report equipment malfunctions, spills, or safety hazards immediately.
- Assist with routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
- Follow OSHA and environmental compliance regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of experience in a chemical plant, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures.
- Ability to read gauges, measurement tools, and follow written instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
