Position Summary
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and functionality of the hotel. This role leads all engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring the property is well-maintained, guest-ready, and compliant with brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of hotel maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs
- Lead and manage the engineering/maintenance team (if applicable)
- Ensure the building, guest rooms, and public areas are in excellent condition
- Maintain all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules
- Respond to and resolve maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Manage vendor relationships and coordinate contracted services
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations, fire codes, and brand standards
- Track maintenance expenses and operate within budget guidelines
- Assist with property improvement plans (PIPs) and capital projects as needed
Qualifications
- Previous hotel maintenance or Chief Engineer experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently
- Leadership experience and ability to manage a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed
- On-call availability for emergencies
- Reliable transportation and strong attendance
