Senior CNC Machinist / Setup MachinistJob Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior CNC Machinist who can independently set up, prove out, and run CNC mills and lathes in a precision manufacturing environment. This role is best suited for someone who is confident working from blueprints, setup sheets, inspection requirements, and existing programs with minimal supervision.
The ideal candidate has strong setup experience, understands tooling, fixtures, offsets, and part inspection, and can help maintain quality, efficiency, and consistency on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes using existing programs, setup sheets, drawings, and work instructions
- Load, align, and secure raw material, fixtures, workholding, and cutting tools
- Touch off tools, set work offsets, adjust tool wear offsets, and make minor program or process adjustments as needed
- Prove out first articles and production parts while ensuring dimensions meet print requirements
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T callouts, tolerances, and inspection requirements
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, feeds/speeds, workholding, finish, chatter, or dimensional movement
- Maintain part quality throughout the run and make adjustments before parts go out of tolerance
- Support process improvements to reduce setup time, improve quality, and increase efficiency
- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and general shop organization
- Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements, and company policies
- Assist less experienced machinists when needed
Requirements
- 7 years of CNC machining experience, with strong setup experience
- Ability to independently set up CNC mills and/or lathes
- Strong blueprint reading skills, including tolerances and GD&T basics
- Experience using precision inspection tools
- Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup issues
- Working knowledge of G-code and CNC machine controls
- Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, workholding, and offsets
- Ability to hold tight tolerances and maintain consistent part quality
- Good communication skills and ability to work with programmers, quality, and production leads
- High attention to detail, safety, and organization
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Haas, Mori, or similar CNC machines
- Experience with both mills and lathes
- Experience in aerospace, medical, or other high-precision manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO quality systems
- Ability to make minor program edits at the machine
- Manual machining experience
- Forklift certification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $31.00 - $41.00 per hour
