Job Summary
The Certified Pharmacy Technician will perform pharmaceutical dispensing duties, including filling new outpatient prescriptions, refilling existing prescriptions, and entering orders into the database.
Responsibilities
- Perform information consultation duties, including supporting new and refill prescriptions, addressing patient requests, assisting physicians, monitoring for potential drug interactions, and reporting adverse drug reactions.
- Complete quality improvement duties, including conducting drug storage inspections, reviewing expired supplies, and producing error and workload reports and documentation.
- Perform supply process duties, including placing new orders, stocking and restocking shelves, maintaining inventory, and generating reports on items not in stock.
- The Pharmacy Technician will clean pharmacy equipment and facilities as required by pharmacy management.
- Qualified to be trained to operate government vehicles to complete duties.
- Transport and restock medications to the kiosks on Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex.
- Dispense medications and supplies to patients and clinics as needed.
- Review patients' computerized drug profiles and adhere to pharmacy policies and operating instructions when discrepancies are found.
- Attend and participate in professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities.
- Complete all required electronic medical record training, MTF-specific orientations, and training programs.
Requirements
- Shall read, understand, speak, and write English fluently.
- Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or a formal pharmacy technician program (i.e., technical, hospital, or retail-based program) or a formal medical services training program of the United States Military.
- Graduate from a formal pharmacy technician program accredited by the American Society of Health.
- Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
- A minimum of one year of experience in an outpatient or community pharmacy setting as a Pharmacy Technician within the past three years.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.93 per hour
