Plant Supervisor:
Summary:
The Plant Supervisor is responsible for effectively plan production, directing, and coordinating all activities of an assigned manufacturing plant. These responsibilities include safety, environmental, quality, production, cost control, role model and leadership of the site workforce. The Plant Supervisor for this business will directly supervise 4-6 personnel and report to operations Supervisor and indirectly to president of the company. Requires the ability to be a fearless customer advocate, effectively communicate both orally and in writing in a kind, courteous and professional manner and perform various functions of customer organization. Upholds and supports VLC organizational goals and values, has ability to handle multiple activities and must be outgoing, self-driven, pleasant & very personable. The position is in Sheboygan, WI.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Plant Supervisor provides the direction and necessary resources to establish ability to provide fearless customer advocacy and relentless planning to overcome any obstacles to meet and exceed customer expectations for an on-time delivery.
- In conjunction with Operations Supervisor, develops a plant-operating plan that is consistent with and supports the annual business plans. Ensures that the plant achieves its annual operating cost objectives
- Ensures that standards for product quality, equipment and operator performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to maximize production.
- Leads plant’s Operational Excellence initiatives along with management. Develops and manages a capital plan with the president that supports the business strategy and improves plant operations.
- Lead plant preventive maintenance program and maintain a working relation with outside service provider.
- Work closely with customer service and sales Supervisor for timely deliveries of customer orders with knowledge of customer tier system and lead-times.
- Understand color chemistry, raw materials, color sequencing on production equipment for cost efficiency and cost productivity and while maintaining high level of quality.
- Develop a working knowledge of color formulations and its raw materials, sources of raw materials, lead-time required to make the product and meet customer expectations.
- Partner with customers to develop forecasting based expected future history usage and compare against historical usage to support Purchasing decisions for RMs (Raw Materials) and MMs (Intermediates).
- Establish safety stock recommendations for RM, MM, and FG (Finished Goods).
- Review and monitor inventory levels and aged product, and work with sales to ensure that product is moved in a timely fashion to avoid obsolescence.
- Tuesday (8:30 am) planning with Purchasing and plant Supervisor to review the production schedule and ensure the promised dates are not slipping. Constantly communicate with the sales staff and develop strategy to tackle any issues that may arise.
- Organize and maintain a shipping report that creates notifications of when material should be sent out based on the acknowledgment order.

QUALIFYING & REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing, product technology and quality.
- Ability to interact with sales, R&D and manufacturing to facilitate developments, complaint investigations, etc.
- Background in the plastics color or similar field industry.
- Proven ability to influence internal and external decision makers.
- Results oriented.
