Duties
- Install new HVAC systems, including ductwork, air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment, following schematics and HVAC design plans.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on existing HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings to accurately assemble and install equipment.
- Diagnose system issues using tools such as ohmmeters and refrigeration gauges; perform troubleshooting to identify root causes.
- Repair or replace mechanical components such as motors, compressors, valves, and piping—utilizing welding skills when necessary.
- Perform plumbing connections related to HVAC systems and ammonia refrigeration setups with precision.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete installation reports, and document system diagnostics for future reference.
- Operate a vehicle safely to transport equipment and materials between job sites.
- Collaborate with property maintenance teams to coordinate repairs or upgrades that involve HVAC/R systems.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
Experience
- Proven experience as an HVAC service technician or installer with a strong background in construction or property maintenance.
- Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design principles, refrigeration systems—including ammonia refrigeration—and mechanical knowledge essential for complex installations.
- Hands-on experience with appliance repair, boiler operation, equipment repair, welding techniques, and field service operations.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems related to HVAC setups is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively for troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Mechanical or technical certification in HVAC/R or related fields is preferred; ongoing training in refrigeration or ammonia systems is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to read technical schematics accurately and follow detailed installation procedures.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required for safe operation of company vehicles.
