A day in the life
- Arrive ready to install, troubleshoot, and repair commercial doors, docks, and related hardware using the right tools and methods.
- Diagnose and perform routine repairs on springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components—and if you want to learn welding, we can train you.
- Set up and configure locks, handles, closers, low-voltage integrations, and access control systems.
- Verify code compliance and safety standards on every door you touch.
- Deliver excellent customer care—explain findings, outline options, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Document work with precise records of service visits, repairs, and installations.
- Quality check all installations and repairs to meet Vortex’s unsurpassed standards.
- Industry-best training at our state-of-the-art facility covering Commercial and Retail door openings, hardware, storefront glazing, and automatic doors.

- Use of company-provided vehicle for customer service visits.
- Excellent mechanical and technical ability.
- Hiring Bonus! Up to $3,000 with commercial or industrial doors experience required.
- Physically able to move items of 50 lbs. or more.
- Ability to lift and bend continuously, climb ladders up to 20’ high, work on knees for extended periods, and operate power tools proficiently.
- Customer-facing aptitude—interpersonal skills to solve issues and communicate clearly in any situation.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills; able to relay information quickly in a fast-paced environment and be persuasive when needed.
- Detail orientation and commitment to quality; reliable and self-motivated.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4 years’ experience in the commercial door service industry; AAADM certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of various door types, brands, and hardware.
- Comfort using hand and power tools effectively.
- Proficiency with fractions and accurate tape-measure reading for precise installs.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and adherence to protocols.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Full-time shifts are available between Vortex business hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday and must be able to work some overtime and on-call hours.
- Continuous on-going training provided as you continue to grow with Vortex.
- The job environment is fast paced and results oriented.
- Be able to drive a company vehicle and possess a valid driver license.
- Must pass Drug test, Background check and Motor Vehicle check
