In celebration of its 125th year of existence on April 7, 2022, Voorhees College was renamed Voorhees University to honor founder, Elizabeth Evelyn Wight. Voorhees University is a private, diverse, historically black, coeducational, liberal arts, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Located in rural Denmark, South Carolina, the University serves traditional and nontraditional students primarily from South Carolina and the southeastern region of the United States; however, seeks to expand our reach both nationally and internationally. SUMMARY OF POSITION OF VICE PRESIDENT FOR ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President for Enrollment Management serves as the senior enrollment management officer of the University and provides leadership of all enrollment management programs, services, and activities. The Vice President serves on the President’s Executive Cabinet and is responsible for building upon the University’s notable recent progress and bold plans for the future in establishing an ambitious vision for enrollment management that encompasses a concern for students from recruitment to graduation. The Vice President for Enrollment Management will lead the overall enrollment activities for the University and provide leadership in the development and execution of effective admissions and financial aid strategies. In executing this work, the Vice President for Enrollment Management will partner especially closely with Academic Affairs in developing admission requirements, involving faculty in recruitment efforts, and achieving goals related to retention and outcomes.
The Vice President for Enrollment Management will possess a leadership style that is highly collaborative and transparent. Also, the Vice President for Enrollment Management will be a strategist with a clear vision for how to develop and advance a best-in-class enrollment operation. This includes hard skills in understanding data and technology but also soft skills to work effectively with colleagues and partners internally and externally. Equally important, the Vice President for Enrollment Management will embrace the University’s mission to produce highly qualified graduates who coalesce intellect and faith in pursuit of life-long learning, healthy living, the betterment of society, and an abiding faith in God. This leader will enhance the student experience through collaboration with campus partners, expand efforts to maximize student success, retention, and enrollment, foster and support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives, and manage a complex portfolio while developing and supporting their team. The Vice President will advance strategies and programs to increase persistence, retention, and academic success for all students with a focus on equity, access, and diversity. The Vice President will be committed to advancing the University to The Next of Excellence and will be a steadfast advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across all dimensions of the University. This person will have a demonstrated record of success championing leadership efforts that advance racial equity and foster a culture of belonging that advances racial, social, and economic justice for all students. This person will have a demonstrated commitment to and track record of promoting and supporting the trajectory of students and the careers of individuals from historically excluded and underrepresented populations. The Vice President will be self-motivated, proactive, resourceful, adept at building relationships, empathetic, a servant leader, and service-oriented with a keen focus on the organization they serve.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Vice President for Enrollment Management will have direct supervision for the following: Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions, Graduate Recruitment and Admissions, Office of Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar and Student Records, Office of University Scholarships, and Veterans Resource Center.

Position Schedule: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday (Evenings, weekends, and travel required)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

  • Focused on the University’s mission, vision and strategic goals, lead the Division of Enrollment Management and cultivate collaborative relationships with University colleagues and external constituencies to ensure consistent strategic enrollment management success;
  • Informed by data and analytics, professional experience working collaboratively with the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Chief Financial Officer, Deans, Chief Diversity Officer and Vice President for Student Affairs, develop and execute strategic and operational enrollment management plans that meet or exceed strategic goals while ensuring cohesion across the enrollment management continuum from precollege programs through admissions, yield and graduation;
  • Partner with the Business and Fiscal Affairs Office to develop multi-year net tuition projections and to strategize regarding tuition and fee rates to maintain competitive advantage while communicating the value proposition of a Voorhees University education to prospective students and their parents, understanding the complexities of resident and non-resident financial aid options;
  • Regularly review progress toward the goals of the strategic enrollment plan, ensuring that the division’s human and financial resources are deployed effectively and efficiently to achieve tactical and operational goals; analyze, evaluate, and report data in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness related to the enrollment plan and initiatives, and adjust strategies based on that analysis; recommend resource allocation strategies to achieve goals;
  • Exhibit responsiveness, flexibility, and creativity to ensure the University meets or exceeds enrollment goals given the dynamic and competitive enrollment environment, utilizing resources effectively and efficiently to achieve the optimal balance between ongoing goals of increasing quality and diversity of our students while maximizing net revenue;
  • Develop and execute a successful strategy for increasing enrollment and success of international students from diverse countries, that allows us to meet our goal of increasing the percentage of international students while also meeting our revenue targets;
  • Collaborate with the Provost for Academic Affairs, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice President for Student Affairs, and Deans on undergraduate and graduate student success initiatives that promote retention and graduation, and to develop successful pipeline programs that enable the University to reach its strategic goals, including attaining the minimum enrollment of 800 students by 2027;
  • Develop and manage student financial assistance programs that address the University’s enrollment priorities, from admission through retention and graduation; work with University Advancement and Alumni Relations to create scholarship programs that will be supported by fundraising to help meet strategic enrollment goals;
  • Collaborate with the Offices of Communications and Marketing, Institutional Research and Effectiveness and Government Relations, as well as the Schools, to create and disseminate a clear and compelling message to prospective students and their parents as well as other key constituencies regarding the value proposition of a Voorhees University education; work to strengthen the marketing activities of the enrollment management division, and to ensure consistency of brand and timeliness of campaigns; effectively balance communications with prospective students to increase yield and minimize fatigue and costs; continue to help refine and automate access and affordability data to be responsive to internal and external constituents need for recurring and adhoc reports;
  • Work with admissions and the schools to ensure that the first impressions prospective students have of the University are first-rate and high-touch; campus contacts and visits need to be of the highest possible caliber, balancing student volunteer, faculty and staff involvement to deliver accurate information, create prospective student attachment and optimize yield;
  • Engage faculty, staff, senior leadership, alumni and students in the recruitment process, galvanizing the many constituencies of the University to join in helping realize enrollment goals;
  • Work to ensure seamless, customer-centered handling of issues that arise with regard to admissions, financial aid, and student success balancing high touch with technological solutions as appropriate;
  • Continually assess and revise the organization, systems, processes, and procedures of the division of enrollment management to improve efficiency and effectiveness, evaluating peer strategies to remain competitive; and
  • Ensure effective management of budget, personnel, technology, and workflow for the division.
  • Prepare and disseminate all division-required reports.

EDUCATION

  • An earned Ph.D. or Terminal Degree from an accredited institution is preferred, Master’s degree considered
  • Preferred certificates and training in enrollment management

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in higher education.
